1. Forest Research Institute
This place is famous for its beautiful gardens, architecture and one can click grand photos here. There is a museum inside which you must NOT miss. The ticket costs a mere Rs. 25 and it is open all days of the week. Established in the year 1906, the institute has been used for famous movies like Student of the Year and Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein.
2. Tapovan
When you head to Rishikesh, there is an elevated road which takes you to Tapovan. Located an hour away from Dehradun, Tapovan is best for yoga sessions. It is best for yoga, Sai baba darshan and trekking. Pack your yoga pants and trekking shoes because you are going for meditation and adventure.
3. Rishikesh
An hour away from Dehradun, Rishikesh is famous for river rafting. It costs a mere Rs. 450-500 for an adventure ride. Rafting in the grand River Ganga is exciting and the body surfing is the BEST! Body surfing in the chilled water will remind you of the end but it will be an experience of a lifetime.
4. Malsi Deer Park
Malsi Deer Park is located 10 km away from Dehradun. If you fancy watching this beautiful species then make your way here. The entry costs Rs. 10 which is a small price to pay to watch the spotted deer. Do note that it is closed on Monday! You can do bird watching, explore the wilderness and watch the deer grazing away.
5. Tapkeshwar Temple
It is good to remember God in happiness and sickness. Tapkeshwar Temple is famous because of its cave structure. The water flows and drips on top of the Shiv Linga. It has become a famous concept across different cities but the Tapkeshwar Temple is genuine and beautiful. If you want a therapeutic bath, consider bathing in the sulphur springs.
6. Fun Valley
If you have got kids with you, consider going to Fun Valley where there are aquatic rides for kids and adults. You would have a lot of fun because there are enjoyable rides and lots of food to indulge in. It is located on Haridwar Road and is not far from Dehradun. It closes at 6 PM. Consider taking your swimming costume with you. The highlights are the Lazy River Pool and Wave Pool.
